About

The boat, the question and the number that didn't exist.

Blue Water Index began with a question our founder couldn't answer while buying his own boat. It became a mission to build an independent valuation reference for the entire recreational marine market.

The story

"What is she actually worth?"

After thirty years working with enterprise data and analytics, and a lifetime sailing, Robb Corrigan went looking for a boat of his own. When he found one, he did what any buyer making a significant purchase would do. He tried to establish what it was worth.

There were opinions.
There were price guides.
There were comparable listings.
There were experienced professionals.

What there wasn't was one independent place that brought the evidence together and explained the answer.

So he built it.

The mission

Every boat that changes hands deserves an honest number.

Blue Water Index exists to create an independent, transparent market reference for recreational boats.

Not to replace brokers
Not to replace surveyors
Not to make lending decisions

To give everyone involved a stronger piece of evidence from which to make those decisions.

Built by people who understand data, risk, products, operations and boats.

He raced and sailed as a kid, then taught kitesurfing across four continents. The boats have changed; the water hasn’t.

Independence isn't a feature. It's the product.
